The efforts of dialogue among various religions and cultures have gained significant acceleration in recent years. It is very pleasing that this atmosphere is spreading to greater masses of people and wider communities. Meetings of representatives of various religions of the world and their encouraging messages of love and dialogue have brought significant contribution to the peace process.

Inter Cultural Dialogue Platform (IDP) has been founded by a reference group which consists of the representatives of individuals and institutions that engaged in this process in order to spread a medium dialogue and to reflect this on the masses. The founders of the platform belong to different beliefs. They consider their differences in the framework of mutual respect and dignity. The basic assurance of a dialogue medium is the mutual respect for each other’s sacred values. In this context the participants will refrain from behaviors, which are accusing, judging and convicting.

We are not in a position to change the mistakes made in the past. Therefore there is no use in discussing the misunderstandings and mistakes of implementation. However, it is important to understand and learn from history for a brighter future. In this context the participants may engage in self-criticism. Commencing the self-criticism is an important step toward extinguishing prejudice. It may be useful for the participants to explain their mistakes to their public with their evidence. Any forms of thought or behavior that may jeopardize relations have to be avoided. Among the aims of the platform are the following:

• To spread the dialogue to various religions and cultures at the grassroots level through meetings with diverse participation.
• To provide a medium where followers of different religions may meet each other and understand the issues by finding consensus among them.
• To spread common values in order to contribute to the world peace.
• To identify psychological and sociological problems that religious groups face due to differences in beliefs and views and to work towards finding solutions to these.
• To form units consisting of intellectuals and researchers of different beliefs who will do work on all components of dialogue and to enlighten the public with these works.
• The Platform also undertakes the responsibility of informing the public via written and visual material. Various mass communication tools will be utilized in order to prepare and publish programs, news and books.
• The Platform cooperates with similar local and international organization and work closely with them in the boundaries of its constitution.
